I know we make fun of the “nun” aspect of the show a lot because it’s the 21st century and why would anyone choose to be a nun anymore, but the idea of Beatrice, giving up her young life and all the joy and excitement and discovery it might have held, in exchange for service and poverty and chastity and asceticism and feeling useful and valuable, spending years building that up and making a name for herself and establishing herself as an asset for the church, only to throw it all away for Ava? Astonishingly romantic. “Nun” is Beatrice’s identity for such a long time, and she throws it all out the window because of one person. It makes the love story so much deeper and more meaningful and intimate and I’m just… In tears every time that we got to have this.
